As Courtesy Najaaraq Nicoline Kleist Vestbirk playes techno that sounds like it was ripped from the dirt and then rocketed into the stratosphere, that she describes herself as “spacecraft techno”. Born in Paamiut Greenland, Vestbirk is one of the few electronic musicians to rise out of this northern island. Now based in Copenhagen, Denmark, she is going from strength to strength surrounded by her power team Apeiron Crew, but taught herself how to DJ in a vacuum when she was 18. After graduating from Red Bull Music Academy Tokyo in 2014, she’s entering into the real world, occupying stages at Distortion Copenhagen, Way Out West, Øya Festival, Roskilde Festival plus Sonar Copenhagen, Stockholm and Barcelona. With the rest of her time, she’s a resident DJ at Copenhagen’s main techno club Culture Box, while also working as a music journalist.
